Lovin' Labradorite and Labradoodles

I've said it before....I LOVE labradorite!
Not sure if I've said it before .... I LOVE labradoodles!
.... see below for the contrasting beauty of both species.

According to Wikipedia.org, labradorite was discovered near a town called Nain in Labrador, Canada though usually mined nowadays for jewelry quality in Madagascar.  And the labradoodle dogs "ancestors originated on the island of Newfoundland, now part of the province of Labrador, Canada."
Has anybody ever been to Labrador?  Sounds like a pretty nice place to me.

My cousin saw the combo above (a labradorite briolette, my floral "shield" pendant and tiny faceted labradorite beads) before I put it all together and said I'll take it!
Thanks Cuz!
So if you're down near San Diego way and you see this on a pretty lady...you know who it is : )
Which brings me to say that I will be making another soon.... if any of ya'll are interested let me know!
And, I have just had a mold made of my pmc pendant below so now I can have lost wax casting made in sterling.  I'm thinking of experimenting with castin in gold too.  I need to hold my breath when I ask for the quote!

And if you're in Ojai, California and you see these funny looking pups... please don't be afraid.  Their bark is just them sayin' hello.  Their names are Stella (red) and Lucy (cream)... mother and daughter.  No, these are NOT their beds .... though they sometimes think otherwise!

PMC Dreamy Mandala Necklace

I have just spent the last 4 hours photographing, cropping and editing 18 different new pieces and I now have to describe, price and list them on Etsy.  This business is time  con - sum - ing!  I'm not complaining ... I just wish I had a little brownie (you know.... the little fairy helpers?) to lend a hand.  I think I will just post a couple per day so I can find time to workout (Doctors orders...I must get my bee-hind out of the chair at least a 1/2 hour per day)!

So here is one of my favorite new creations .... a mandala pendant handmade from precious metal clay using an antique Afghani bronze jewelry die, square cut labradorite beads, and tiny handmade sterling Thai beads.

The Divine Davina

About one year ago, I sold my very first necklace.  It was given as a thank you gift to my friend Davina for her many devoted hours as a leader of one of our local philanthropies.  Davina was a beautiful woman.... strong, intelligent, generous, compassionate, friendly, positive and absolutely gorgeous.   When Davina walked into a room, all heads turned.  She radiated sunshine with her smile and demeanor.  She made everyone around her feel loved.  Only a few weeks after she was honored for her hard work and dedication, she joined the angels above.  But, her loving spirit and the memories she gave us will always live on. She was and is divine.

Here is the necklace I have named after her, like the one she was gifted.....

This fine silver pendant is made from precious metal clay molded from an antique Afghani jewelry mold with a brilliant blue wire wrapped labradorite briolette and hangs on a natural Greek leather cord.

Labradorite is the "symbol of opened Third Eye. This stone stimulates imagination. It can help develop enthusiasm and thus, new ideas. Labradorite assists one to see more clearly in meditation. Labradorite is a power stone, allowing you to see through illusions and determine the actual form of your dreams and goals. It is excellent for strengthening intuitions."

The Davina Necklace is now available on my Etsy shop.

Orient & Flume, Labradorite & Avatar

our object d'arts

my new labradorite from ECrater

The sun finally came out just before the sun set this evening after two days of rain. The light on our beautiful arrangement on our mantle inspired me to share their beauty. All are gifts from my husbands family in Northern California. I don't even know if they realize how lovely the objects look together as a group. The glass pieces are all from Orient and Flume in Chico. The colors remind me of the gorgeous dreamy aqua blues in my favorite gemstone, labradorite. I just LOVE labradorite! After I fed my son dinner tonight, I went online to look find a beautiful one to post an ended up buying the one above...I couldn't resist! Now I need to learn how to do a bezel set and design a piece of jewelry to show it off!

I cannot deny that these colors remind me of the fabulous Na'vi in Avatar too! I couldn't resist adding this photo......
